On Monday, September 3, 2018 the Southwest Alabama Labor Council (SWALC) took to the streets to celebrate Labor Day and worker people with their annual parade. The procession was included affiliate unions, community partners, marching bands, the Democratic Party, dune buggies, and trikes. The crowd grew again this year and were thriled to catch the Cottonelle rolls that the riders threw. For over 40 years Kimberly Clark Corporation, formerly Scot Paper, had donated toilet paper to the Labor Council.  SWALC had a special guest this year. Jill Chenoweth, President & CEO of the United Way of Southwest Alabama (UWSWA), rode on the Council's float. She is the first United Way president to ride in the parade for at least 10 years.
